COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man from South Florida led troopers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 75 on the state’s west coast Wednesday morning, ending in a PIT maneuver — and handcuffs.

An FHP spokesperson said the agency put out a be-on-the-lookout notice just after 7:40 a.m. after receiving a report that a driver, later identified as Adler Telfort, 27, of Tamarac, displayed a gun to another motorist in Lee County.

Troopers located Telfort driving near mile marker 115 in Collier County, according to FHP.

The FHP spokesperson said troopers tried pulling Telfort over, but he took off, reaching speeds of 120 mph and passing other drivers on the shoulder. The chase ended in a PIT maneuver and Telfort’s arrest, they said.

Troopers said they found “several” toy guns in his vehicle.

Telfort is facing charges of reckless driving, aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of marijuana, violation of probation and driving with a suspended license, according to FHP.

His mug shot wasn’t immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
