MIAMI – Miami police say a 30-year-old man became irate after a security guard told him he couldn’t park inside a Brickell construction site, so he pulled a gun on her before driving off.

Police arrested Melvin Steven Calero, of southwest Miami-Dade, on a felony charge Tuesday.

According to an arrest report, on Friday, Calero parked his Honda Accord within the 830 Brickell construction site, located at 830 Brickell Plaza.

Police said the guard approached him and told him he couldn’t park there, sparking an argument which would lead to Calero pulling out a gun.

The report states he told her, “I will shoot you and the only reason I’m leaving is to see my customers.” Authorities said the guard also caught him on cellphone video pointing the gun at her and telling her, “You might get shot up over some stupid s---.”

On Tuesday, police would locate Calero at his Westchester-area home in the 3600 block of Southwest 92nd Avenue and took him into custody.

Police said he told the arresting officer he had a gun in his waistband. They said they found a 9 mm Glock pistol.

The arrest report states he invoked his right to remain silent.

A judge found probable cause to charge Calero with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer — a charge which also applies to security officers — and he was being held in Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond as of Wednesday.
