Police raid Miami-Dade house to find felon among squatters with stolen property, drugs

Police officers arrest 3 suspects in North Miami Beach, including a convicted felon and a man who was supposed to be on house arrest

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A group had been squatting in a house in North Miami Beach after the property owner died in 2022, and after searching the house police officers found drugs, stolen identifications, and stolen property.

After a raid with a warrant, NMB police officers seized dozens of motorized scooters and bicycles, and they also collected crack cocaine and powdered cocaine.

ā€œNone of the individuals at the home were authorized to be there,ā€ Detective Zoila Exclusa said. ā€œThey were not homeowners, they were not tenants.ā€

Exclusa, a spokeswoman for NMBPD, also said after the search of the house near the intersection of Northeast 172 Street and 14 Avenue three were arrested on Wednesday.

Police officers accused Garris Jurdine Nickle of having stolen personal identifications, Michael Joshua Malcolm of cocaine trafficking, and Rodney Linis Ragin of cocaine possession.

Ragin, 49, was convicted of a 1997 murder during an armed robbery and burglary in Miami-Dade, records show. He has been in and out of prison since 2003, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

Raginsā€™s arrest record in Miami-Dade County goes back to 1994 and also includes cocaine trafficking while armed, and cocaine and marijuana possession cases

Nickle, 43, who was supposed to be on house arrest, appeared in court on Thursday.

Court records show Nickle was arrested for cocaine possession in 2018 and petit theft in 2021. His arrest record in 2022 is long: It includes cases for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine possession, fraudulent use of ID, burglary, trespassing, and knowingly giving law enforcement a false ID.

Last year, Nickle was arrested again for possession of a controlled substance and grand theft. On Thursday, prosecutors filed a case of unlawful possession of the personal identification information of more than five people. His bond review is at 9 a.m., on Friday.

Malcolm, 29, also appeared in Miami-Dade court on Thursday. Court records show NMB police officers arrested Malcolm in 2018 for trespassing and a judge set his bond at $15,000 for the new case.
