Accused groper arrested in SW Miami-Dade, but cops still looking for 1 caught on video

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police have arrested a man they say ran up to a woman in southwest Miami-Dade and groped her. But they say he’s not currently linked to other incidents, including a serial groping suspect seen on video targeting women in the area.

Andrew Serrano, 37, is facing a misdemeanor battery charge after being accused of an attack on the Baptist Hospital campus, located at 8900 N. Kendall Drive.

According to an arrest report, it happened at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said a woman was walking along a pathway surrounding a lake when Serrano, who was sitting, got up and began walking towards her.

They said after he walked past her, he turned around, ran towards her and grabbed her buttocks.

The report states the woman screamed and Serrano ran away after a man starting coming in their direction to help the victim.

Miami-Dade police officers found Serrano, who is homeless, at a bus stop at Kendall Drive and Southwest 97th Avenue and took him into custody.

He was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, but, according to records, a judge ordered him released on his own recognizance.

A search of online court records showed no apparent criminal history for Serrano in Miami-Dade County.
