Capt. Fernando Morales, a Homestead Police Department spokesperson, said school staff members were made aware of the incident Wednesday and “immediately” called police.

Additional details, including what Goodwin is accused of saying to the girl in those texts, were not immediately made available Thursday afternoon.

Morales asked “anyone who has had what they might believe is inappropriate conversation” with Goodwin to call Homestead police.

Goodwin is facing charges of offenses against a student by an authority figure, child abuse causing no great bodily harm and stalking.

Local 10 News contacted a Somerset Academy spokesperson seeking comment on the arrest and was awaiting a response as of Thursday afternoon.
