Suspect arrested for trying to kidnap child in Miami Beach CVS makes court appearance

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — The man accused of trying to snatch a young child at a Miami Beach pharmacy went before a judge on Sunday.

Appearing in bond court was 26-year-old Nicholas Metternich Sternamen.

During the hearing, the state requested Sternamen be held in jail without bond until trial.

The judge granted that request, while also ordering Sternaman to stay away from the victim and his father.

Surveillance video from inside the Miami Beach CVS on the corner of Collins Avenue and 74 Street shows Sternaman trying to violently grab the 4-year-old child on Thursday afternoon before the boy’s father grabbed Sternaman and forced him away.

Sternaman is facing charges of kidnapping, aggravated child abuse and battery.
