MIAMI — Miami police are searching for a man behind a strong-arm robbery that occurred last month.
Police released surveillance video Wednesday of the robbery that occurred around 2:12 a.m. Feb. 18 in the area of Northwest 19th Avenue and 28th Street.
The video shows a man and a woman on a scooter stopped at a red light at the intersection when the robber gets out of a newer-model, silver Hyundai Elantra and grabs the victim’s purse.
Police say inside was $1,500 worth of cash and possessions.

The man then re-entered his car and fled north on Northwest 18th Avenue.
According to authorities, the victims chased after the robber but were unable to catch up with him.
Police do not believe this is the first time the robber has done this and they think it will happen again.
The woman in the February incident hit her head after falling to the ground, but is doing OK.
Police said at least two other people were inside the Elantra that the robber got out of.
“The male driver of the scooter runs after him, the Elantra takes off, the suspect starts running after the vehicle he got out of -- he gets into it and they take off,” Miami police Officer Michael Vega said.
Police described the robber as a tall, Black male who was wearing a gray hooded sweater and black pants.
“We see this as a brazen robber that ran up to her, pulled her purse, not caring of any injuries he could have caused to her,” Vega said.
Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call the Miami Police Department’s Robbery Unit at 305-603-6370. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
