Surveillance video shows armed man robbing food truck in North Miami, police say

North Miami police search for man they believe is behind string of armed robberies

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – The search is on for a thief believed to be behind a string of armed robberies over the past week in North Miami.

The crook has been busy, holding up a clerk at a 7-Eleven, then a day later, robbing a CVS and food truck business down the street.

Police said surveillance video inside the 7-Eleven, located at 590 NE 125th St., captured the man wearing all black clothing walking into the store, holding the clerk at gunpoint and demanding that she open the register last Sunday just before 9 p.m.

Investigators confirmed the clerk complied with the thief’s request and handed him the tray where he stole $136 from the register.

The next day, police said the thief entered a CVS around 8:15 p.m. near the 600 block of Northeast 128th Avenue, where surveillance cameras again caught his every move.

In that incident, the thief entered the store, pulled out a gun from his pocket and demanded the store clerk to open the register, according to investigators.

Police said the culprit fled from the store after the clerk called the store manager. Authorities confirmed the thief did not leave the store with any merchandise or money from the CVS.

Detectives said a food truck business was also robbed around 10:15 p.m. Sunday near the 14000 block of West Dixie Highway.

Local 10 News obtained exclusive surveillance video of the man walking up to the food truck and pointing a gun toward the victim’s chest while demanding to receive money.

Authorities confirmed the victim handed $300 to the masked man.

Daniella Alvarez, who works with the victim, said she was on the phone when the armed thief came out of nowhere and pointed a gun at her while she was inside the food truck.

“She’s grateful that God protected her but at the moment she was scared for her life,” the victim’s coworker told Local 10 News.

The thief appeared to have been walking northbound on West Dixie Highway when he entered the parking lot of the Westar gas station just moments after the crime was committed, according to investigators.

Anyone with information about the crimes or the culprit is urged to contact the North Miami Police Department at 305-891-0294 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-371-8477.
