FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale woman remained in jail Thursday after police say she used her green Ford Fiesta as a weapon against a man who confronted her for throwing trash out of her window in late February.

A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy took Elizabeth Ann Bradshaw, 56, into custody in Pompano Beach on Monday after authorities put out a warrant for her arrest on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

According to the warrant, the incident happened on Feb. 26 in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale police Detective Alyssa Alonso wrote that the victim was on his way to work when he saw Bradshaw “throw garbage out of her vehicle” while both were at a red light; he said he “honked his horn and put his hands in the air” and “yelled for the woman to pick up her trash.”

According to the warrant, Bradshaw did not take kindly to that and the two began yelling at each other. Police said as the two continued driving, Bradshaw began tailing him.

Authorities said that while waiting at a stop sign at Northeast 49th Street and North Federal Highway, Bradshaw threw something at the man’s vehicle.

After he got out to check for damage, Bradshaw drove around his car and struck him, causing him to be “tossed into his vehicle” and “causing a large dent,” the warrant states.

“(The victim) essentially bumped from vehicle to vehicle, finally grabbing on the woman’s half-lowered passenger window in an effort to stabilize himself,” Alonso wrote. “The window shattered from the force, causing (his) right arm to sustain lacerations and embedded glass.”

Police said she drove onto Federal Highway and the man followed her; when she stopped, he pulled behind her to call the police, at which point she threw her hatchback into reverse and crashed into his car.

The victim had taken a picture of Bradshaw’s vehicle and license plate and police were able to trace the car back to her and issued the arrest warrant.

As of Thursday, she was being held in BSO’s Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach on a $50,000 bond.

Bradshaw’s temper has gotten her into trouble in the past. According to court records, in 2021, she pleaded no contest to a felony battery charge after BSO deputies said she punched and bit another woman in Deerfield Beach in July 2019.

On Oct. 4, 2021, she was sentenced to two years of probation. One of the components was an anger management program.
