Man accused of stabbing girlfriend multiple times inside Doral apartment

Police: Victim suffered stab wounds to the face, neck and wrist

DORAL, Fla. – A 57-year-old man was arrested last week after he repeatedly stabbed his girlfriend inside their apartment in Doral, authorities said.

According to his arrest report, Doral police officers responded to the apartment building at 2520 NW 84th Ave. just after 4 p.m. Thursday after receiving a call about a man and woman fighting.

Police said officers arrived to find the suspect, Juan Ernesto Nunez, with blood on his hands and wearing a blood-stained shirt.

He told officers to check on his girlfriend, at which time officers went into the apartment and found the victim lying unresponsive on the floor with stab wounds to her face, neck and wrist, the report stated.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

According to the report, Miami-Dade homicide detectives were notified.

Detectives discovered that the couple lived alone at the apartment and have been in a relationship for about seven years.

Police said Nunez was the person who called 911 to report the altercation.

Officers noted minor cuts to his hand and scratch marks on his body, which appeared to be consistent with a physical altercation.

According to the report, investigators observed multiple injuries throughout the victim’s body, as well as defensive wounds to her hands.

A kitchen knife with blood on its handle and blade was found on the kitchen countertop, the report stated.

Nunez was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder.

Further details about what the couple was fighting about were not disclosed in the arrest report.
