PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A Pembroke Pines man is scheduled to be arraigned in Broward County court Friday on a felony charge after police said he took proceeds from women who were being prostituted out of his home.

Authorities arrested Courtney Simpson, 57, last Wednesday, according to Broward court records.

According to an arrest warrant, the investigation into Simpson began in 2022 after a woman told investigators that she had been engaging in prostitution at Simpson’s home at 1510 SW 97th Terrace.

On Nov. 28, 2022, authorities conducted a search warrant at the home and found multiple cell phones that had text message evidence showing that men were visiting the house to have sex with prostitutes, police said, along with ad photos of women to be placed on prostitution websites.

“The text messages I reviewed indicate that Simpson was aware that (redacted) and others were conducting prostitution out of his residence,” a detective wrote in the warrant. “For example, in one exchange in November of 2022, Simpson reminded (redacted) that they needed to be cautious regarding the traffic in and out of the house during the Thanksgiving holiday and expressed concerns about arousing suspicion from neighbors.”

It’s not clear from the report who police are referring to.

Two women told detectives that “(redacted) used their dependency on opiates to coerce them to engage in prostitution for (redacted) financial benefit while living at Simpson’s residence,” the warrant states.

One woman explained that “essentially all the money” from her prostitution “dates” went to Simpson, it states.

Authorities said they found electronic transactions showing Simpson taking prostitution earnings and, “in recorded calls between him and (redacted), has expressed that he has been in severe financial distress since law enforcement stopped the prostitution activity occurring at his residence.”

Simpson is facing a charge of deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution.

A change of plea is also included in Friday’s court proceedings, according to online records.
