FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Avis Goldsby, who has a “One Life To Live” tattoo, wasn’t as willing to smile when he recently posed for his new booking mug photo at the Broward County main jail in Fort Lauderdale. He has a new felony case.

On March 30, Lauderdale Lakes police officers reported Goldsby, 33, confessed to having “some weed” after they saw “a large cloud of smoke” inside his white Hyundai Genesis. Officer Karina Hernandez reported he had a small black bag in the back seat with marijuana and five pills.

Broward County court records show Goldsby, who lives in Sunrise and was born in Fort Lauderdale, posted a $5,000 bond on April 1, and his defense attorney filed his written plea of not guilty on April 3. The case was still pending with Broward County Circuit Judge Gary M. Farmer, Jr.

On Sunday, Lauderdale Lakes police officers arrested him again and accused him of trafficking fentanyl, oxycodone, methamphetamine, and marijuana. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies held him on Monday on six new charges including drug trafficking charges, a domestic violence battery, and resisting arrest.

Broward County Circuit Judge Susan L. Alspector is presiding over the new case.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
