Police: Mother, 7-month-old baby found safe after being reported missing

SEBRING, Fla. – Authorities confirmed Thursday afternoon that a 7-month-old baby and his mother, who had both been reported missing from south-central Florida, were found safe.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement had issued a Missing Child Alert Thursday morning.

According to authorities, Kansi Edwards had last been seen in the 2800 block of State Road 17 in Sebring, wearing a green onesie.

Police believed the baby boy was with his mother, Alexis Thomas, 22.

Sebring police confirmed in a news release that Thomas was also found safe Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, Thomas had left her home on foot with Kansi around 1 a.m. Thursday after making suicidal statements.

No other details were immediately released.
