Group abandons 30-foot sailboat on the beach

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Authorities investigated reports of two migrants’ landings within hours in Broward County.

One group allegedly landed Saturday morning in Hollywood and another on Friday night in Fort Lauderdale.

U.S. Border Patrol responded after a group landed along the beach at about 7 a.m., on Saturday, near Coolidge Street. They abandoned a 30-foot sailboat on the beach.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, police officers investigated a report that a group landed at about 8:30 p.m., Friday near Southeast 21 Street. But the report was unfounded.
