Police: Man, 19, caught with gun while on probation in Miami-Dade

MIAMI ā€“ A 19-year-old man was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Saturday accused of having a gun while on probation in Miami-Dade County.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Julius E. Vieraā€™s probation felony supervision had just started on April 1; it was set to end on March 31, 2026.

Court records show prosecutors filed five cases against him last year. Vieraā€™s convictions were for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, criminal mischief with property damage, and driving a vehicle involved in a crash resulting in injury.

According to Miami-Dade inmate records, the court had issued three warrants for his arrest. Two were for a probation violation and the other was a hold for a magistrate.

Miami-Dade correctional officers booked him at TGKCC on Friday on charges of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a minor. They had him on a standard hold.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Michelle Ashby Delancy is presiding over the new case. Vieraā€™s arraignment hearing was set for 9 a.m., on May 21.
