Customers furious after evicted Miami-Dade dry cleaners wouldn’t give back their clothes

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Tensions were high outside a South Florida dry cleaning business on Friday.

Dozens of confused customers were trying to get their clothes back after Majestic Cleaners located at 12600 SW 8 St. in west Miami-Dade County suddenly closed for good.

The lights were on at Majestic Cleaners Friday evening and there are still clothes inside, but it’s not clear that the owners of those clothes will ever get them back.

That’s because the owner of the business has been evicted, and customers were quite upset outside.

“I received texts to come and pick up your clothes because they’re evicting the owners,” said customer Abraham Alvarez. “And we showed up and the place was closed.”

The text said customers could pick up their clothes for a final time through 4 p.m. Friday, leading to an hours-long line outside the business.

“I took the day off early to come and pick up the clothes,” said customer Iris Rivera. “They said it was until and now I’m here and I can’t get the clothes. I have over $300, $400 of clothes in there.”

Two people inside the business barred the door shut.

Local 10 News’ Cody Weddle tried to get answers from one of them.

“I’m here at my own will, so I don’t inconvenience people,” said the woman inside. “If you’re going to record me, I’m not talking.”

“Why can’t you just give them an answer about why they can’t get their clothes?” asked Weddle.

“You have no rights to record me,” she replied.

“Yes, I do,” said Weddle. “Why can’t you just give them information about when they can get their clothes?”

The question was not answered.

Weddle also reached out to the phone numbers and emails for Majestic Cleaners and for the property manager of the complex.

There was no response from either as of the time of this story’s publishing.
