MIAMI ā A Venetian Islands homeowner checking his cameras to see if a package had been delivered made a shocking discovery: A suspect shattering his window, apparently trying to break in.
The homeowner, who didnāt want to reveal his identity, spoke to Local 10 News on Friday in hopes that someone can help Miami police identify and catch the vandal.
It happened just after 9 p.m. Thursday.
The video shows the suspect walk up the driveway carrying an object and once at the door, the suspect hurls it multiple times at the glass, at one point attempting to kick out the window.
When that doesnāt work, the suspect uses what appears to be the toolās handle to smash through the glass.
āI felt a rage when I saw the video and I could just imagine if either myself or one of my family members ran into someone in that condition trying to harm our property,ā the homeowner said. āIt wouldāve been really bad.ā
Thankfully, no one was home at the time. The vandal racked up an estimated $5,000 in damages.
āThe glass can be replaced,ā the homeowner said. āWhat Iām most concerned about is safety and security.ā
Itās not clear who the vandal is or why he or she decided to hit up the victimās home in the island neighborhood.
āThis is a family-oriented community,ā the homeowner said. āI think we need to take additional measures.ā
The homeowner filed a report with the Miami Police Department; anyone with information is asked to contact that agency.
