MIAMI — Leonard Riggio, the 83-year-old founder of Barnes & Noble, and his wife Louise Riggio recently listed the beachfront estate in Palm Beach that they purchased in 2003 for $14 million and expanded in 2009 for $1.45 million.

The asking price for the modern single-family residence at 1446 North Ocean Boulevard in the Manana Estates area is $96 million. It has seven bedrooms, including a master suite with a private gym, five restrooms, and two partial restrooms.

The listing broker is Lawrence A. Moens, who has specialized in the area for decades. According to his description online, the two-story residence was built in 1979, faces “a large private dune,” has a pool area, and a “separate staff apartment.”

According to The Palm Beach Daily News, the first to report the listing, a company associated with William Lauder, of the Estée Lauder fortune, purchased a neighboring property last year for $155 million.
