MDFR: 1 person hospitalized, dog dies after fire erupts inside Miami-Dade mobile home

2 other dogs survive after CPR administered to them

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — One person was injured and a dog has died after a fire erupted Wednesday morning inside a mobile home in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.

The fire was reported in the area of Northwest 14th Avenue and 77th Terrace.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, eight units responded to the scene to extinguish the flames.

First responders confirmed that one person was transported to a hospital as a trauma alert.

Three dogs were also pulled out of the home and CPR was administered to them, but only two survived, officials said.

Argealo Santana lives behind the trailer that burned and spoke to Local 10′s Joseph Ojo.

“I’m sleeping -- I’m telling my wife, ‘Hey, you cook something in the kitchen?’ And my wife said ‘no,’” he told Ojo. “I see a lot of smoke come inside, so my wife opened the door and she said, ‘It’s the neighbor.’”

Santana said he quickly jumped into action to save his neighbor, who he says inhaled a lot of smoke.

“I jumped into the building -- I broke the window, I jump into the house and I see the lady on the floor, so I take the lady and put her outside and the lady is bad.”

The Red Cross has been requested to help the resident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
