According to Miami police spokeswoman, Officer Kiara Delva, the shooting was reported around 8 a.m. at office of Del Toro Insurance Company, located at 42 NW 27th Ave.

6 p.m. report:

Delva said officers arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

She said Miami Fire Rescue personnel also responded to the scene.

Both have since died from their injuries, Delva confirmed.

“It appears that the male might have been the shooter in this case,” Miami Police Capt. Freddie Cruz told reporters at the scene.

Noon report:

Authorities have since identified the deceased as Indiana del Socorro Guzman Mendoza, 32, and Reynaldo Sandoval, 61.

According to police, their preliminary investigation indicated the incident was a murder-suicide involving former spouses.

Police said the couple got married in Nicaragua three years ago and separated in January.

According to authorities, there were witnesses inside the building who saw Sandoval shooting his estranged wife before turning the gun on himself.

Employees outside the Del Toro Insurance building shared tears and hugs after learning about the shooting.

They told Local 10’s Michaila Hightower that del Socorro Guzman Mendoza was a colleague of theirs.

“I’m feeling so bad,” Maria Ponce said. “I have five children and I have 10 grandchildren, you know, and you’re thinking about your family.”

A man who works across the street said he heard people screaming and saw a commotion outside the building.

According to Delva, homicide detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder-suicide.
