VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies released a dashcam video describing it as a Florida Highway Patrol trooper’s “split second away from tragedy.”
The FHP trooper was responding to a driver who had struck a deer early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 when another driver nearly ran him over.
After the trooper ran, a Volusia deputy also got out of the way before the driver plowed into a sergeant’s parked patrol SUV and the car that had struck the deer.
