POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night.
According to BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro, the shooting was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. near the 3200 block of Northeast First Avenue.
“BSO district deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded,” Caro said in an email to Local 10 News. “On scene, deputies located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. BSO deputies immediately began administering life-saving measures.”
Video taken at the scene shows deputies giving chest compressions to the victim outside a home.
Caro confirmed that paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He has since been identified as Jacarey Love, 25, of Pompano Beach.
“I mean he loved his kids. he was a good person,” a neighbor said. “They didn’t bother anybody.”
Caro said a second man, whose identity has not been released, was also treated at the hospital following the shooting, but he suffered an injury not considered to be life-threatening.
BSO’s Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
