MIAMI – Two teenagers are facing charges in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood Friday afternoon.
Police said the shooting, which happened at around 2:30 p.m. at Henderson Park, located at 971 NW Second St., stemmed from an argument “over a bike and territory.”

A Miami Police Department arrest report states that fellow 17-year-olds Andres Alvarez and Santiago Guillen were involved.
“The offenders placed their hand in the form of a gang sign towards the victim and witnesses and offered to fight them,“ an MPD investigator wrote. ”The victim couldn’t hear them clearly; instead, he heard them saying something about the motorcycle he had parked inside the park.”
The report continues, “The victim walked towards his bike and tried to ride away, but the bike wouldn’t start. (Alvarez) and the unidentified offender both walked together in unison towards the victim and witnesses and the unidentified offender, with a black firearm in his hand, shot at the victim, striking him in the left arm.”
The teenage boy was conscious after he was shot in the arm, police said.
Police said Guillen then let the shooter take his scooter as a getaway vehicle and Guillen and Alvarez both left on foot; police later caught up to them near Northwest Seventh Avenue and Second Street.
“High-quality” CCTV footage showed the teens during the incident, the report states.
Alvarez is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder and three assault charges. It’s not yet clear what charges Guillen is facing.
Neither had booking photos immediately available.
