The suspect, who deputies identified as Henry Robert Jean Marie, faces multiple felony charges stemming from the April 15 incident, which occurred just before 4:30 p.m. at an apartment complex near the 2400 block of Northwest 48th Street.

Responding officers found a bloodied knife in the street and later interviewed three teenage boys who said Jean Marie stabbed one of them and then opened fire as they tried to escape.

According to an arrest warrant, the stabbing victim, told deputies that he had been inside an apartment bedroom with his girlfriend when her brother, Jean Marie, entered and began attacking him.

The victim said Jean Marie grabbed him by the shirt, forced him toward the front door, and stabbed him once before he fled outside, the warrant stated.

Once in the parking lot, deputies said the victim encountered two friends, a 15 and 16-year-old boy.

Witnesses told deputies that they saw Jean Marie come down the stairs, attempt to retrieve a gun from a gray Toyota RAV4, and then fire two shots at them from over the SUV’s roof. Authorities said no one was struck by gunfire.

Investigators said Jean Marie got into the SUV and circled the complex looking for the teens, who took cover inside a nearby apartment.

They said the stabbing victim was later transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.

That same day, Jean Marie reportedly approached Miami police officers working an off-duty detail at Marlins Park and claimed he had been stabbed and needed medical attention.

He was taken to University of Miami Hospital but declined treatment and walked out, authorities said.

Detectives said they later located Jean Marie’s SUV at a tow yard and observed a sweater inside matching the one he was seen wearing in surveillance footage reviewed by investigators. That footage supported the victims’ statement, deputies said.

The next day, detectives presented a photographic lineup to the stabbing victim, who they said positively identified Jean Marie as the attacker.

Authorities also noted that Jean Marie was previously convicted in an armed robbery and carjacking case. His probation was revoked in April 2022, and he served two years in state prison.

Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting and stabbing incident.

Jail records show he is facing one count each second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, and illegal possession of a firearm as a post convicted felon.

As of Thursday, he is being held on a $60,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
