Among them is a cinereous vulture, one of the world’s heaviest flying birds, which hatched April 21, Ron Magill, Zoo Miami’s Communication Director confirmed in a news release Friday. The chick is being raised off-exhibit by its parents.

A harpy eagle, known for its massive talons and powerful grip, hatched April 23 in the “Amazon and Beyond” exhibit.

Magill said on April 27 and 28, two Abdim’s stork chicks hatched in the Wings of Asia Aviary. The small African storks can be seen with their parents from public viewing areas.

All chicks are being raised by their parents — a fitting tribute for Mother’s Day.
