WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump used social media to announce Friday that he was considering lowering tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to 80%.
U.S-China delegations are meeting this weekend in Geneva, Switzerland, for high-stake negotiations. Trump’s new ambassador to China is David Perdue.
“We have to make a great deal for America,” Trump told reporters in the White House adding, “We are going to come back with a fair deal.”

Trump has also used social media to promote his memecoin $TRUMP. Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, faced questions about a potential conflict of interest.
“I can assure you, the president acts with only the interests of the American public in mind,” Leavitt said during a news conference.
