Police said on May 8, Quantum’s owner, Juan Carlos Sosa, paid the victim $150. They said the victim “left the premises to get lunch,” causing Sosa to become “upset over his departure.”
The report states that Sosa, 61, of northwest Miami-Dade, texted the victim a photo of “a black handgun in a holster” and was heard in “multiple voice recordings” threatening the victim.
“In these recordings, Juan Carlos stated he would contact law enforcement and threatened to shoot (the victim) in the head with the firearm if the money was not returned,“ an HGPD officer wrote in the report. ”Juan Carlos further stated that (the victim) ‘better not be at the warehouse the following day or else.’”
According to police, Sosa went to the victim’s employer “looking for him” the next day. The victim believed Sosa “intended to confront and harm him,” the report states.
Authorities went to Quantum Wednesday and took Sosa into custody.
Police said he made an admission, which was redacted from the arrest report.
Sosa faces a second-degree felony charge of written threats to kill or do bodily injury.
According to Miami-Dade jail records, he was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond listed as “to be set.”
