Miami Gardens couple’s loved ones believe their deaths were not accidental

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Jamie Spencer said she knew her 65-year-old sister and her 59-year-old husband of 20 years were dead and a fire destroyed their home, but their grieving family believes their deaths were not accidental.

Detectives were investigating the deaths of Rhonda Spencer and Tim Fordham on May 7 in Miami Gardens when their loved ones met for a vigil on Wednesday.

“The thought of losing them in the middle of the night, unexpectedly in such a horrible way,” Jamie Spencer said about her grief.

Tamonjamin Williams said an explosion woke him up shortly before 3:30 a.m., on May 7 at the home along Northwest 185 Terrace, in Miami Gardens.

“The ceiling inside the bedroom was on top of me. I started calling for them ... I couldn’t get out the door ... God pulled the door open and then I went out,” Williams said after the fire. “The security door was off the house. It was hanging.”

On Wednesday, Jamie Spencer said she and her family were glad Williams survived.

“We wanted to speak today to clear any false rumors, any speculations, that our nephew was involved,” Jamie Spencer said.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
