According to BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman, the victim was found lying on the side of the roadway around 3 p.m. on May 14 after possibly being struck by a vehicle in the 3000 block of North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to Broward Health North to be treated for his injuries.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the 69-year-old man was riding a bicycle northbound on Dixie Highway,” Grossman said in a news release. “At some point, he was found unresponsive and injured on the road with the bicycle next to him. Detectives believe a subject traveling on an electric scooter heading southbound at around the same time may have observed what occurred.”

While the surveillance video captured both the bicyclist and the scooter rider traveling along the roadway, it does not show what caused the bicyclist to become injured.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Violent Crimes Detective Brittany Armstrong at 954-321-4242 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
