He started as a student there, and then came back to coach wrestling and eventually lead the athletic department.

Yearning to flex more mental muscles, Delahoz became the director of Coral Park’s engineering, architecture and construction magnets.

“It’s a collaboration of several teachers that make this an incredible program,” he said.

Under his watch, the school’s robotics program has won numerous local, state and national competitions. They even made it to the world tournament this past school season.

“The impact that we have on them and what they can accomplish when they leave here is the true meaning of it,” he said.

Delahoz has made a tremendous impact as many of his students have gone on to attend elite universities and hold high-level positions at fortune 500 companies.

“We got a full ride to Duke, a full ride to Stanford, we got Georgia Tech and obviously MIT now,” he said. “Google, Apple, Amazon.

“I have kids calling me back for career decisions at 35 and 40 years of age.”

On behalf of Publix Supermarkets, Local 10 News presented Delahoz with $1,000 in Publix gift cards as our way of saying thank you for all that he does.
