SUNRISE, Fla. – One person has died after a double stabbing occurred early Wednesday morning in Sunrise, authorities confirmed to Local 10 News.
According to Sunrise police, the stabbing was reported at 1:42 a.m. at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village, located at 3000 NW 130th Ave.
A Local 10 News crew was in the area later in the morning as police were spotted near the community’s parking garage.
Police confirmed that one of the two victims has died from their injuries.
“I’m extremely surprised. This is a very safe neighborhood,” Ty Vassil, who is a resident at the community, told Local 10. “One of the reasons that we decided to live here is because of the security and I’m extremely surprised that something like that would happen here.”
Police later confirmed that one person has been taken into custody.
No other details were immediately released.
