“I never touched that man,” said Orta, who has an arrest record that includes disorderly conduct on 2008 in Miami Beach.

County Circuit Judge William Altfield warned Orta that a prosecutor was listening during the hearing, so he should avoid talking about the case.

“There is evidence about how he was abusing me as a child and I was bloodied up as a child,” a defiant Orta said.

Two women intervened. A public defender muted the microphone and a Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office correctional deputy escorted Orta away.

Altfield found probable cause for a domestic violence battery charge against Orta and ordered him to stay away from the victim in the case.

Records show that after Orta’s arrest on Saturday in Coral Gables corrections booked him early Sunday morning at the Turner Guilford Correctional Center.

Court records show his bond was $2,500, County Circuit Judge Alicia Garcia Priovolos was set to preside over the case, and his arraignment hearing is on June 25.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other domestic violence cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
