Jail records show Jaylen Lavar Fisher was taken into custody on Monday and faces one count of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred on May 24 near the 1400 block of Northwest Second Court.

Florida City police said officers responded around 11:23 p.m. to reports of a man, identified as Christopher Shannon Allen, shot on the roadway.

When they arrived, police said they found Allen “suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and bleeding on the street.”

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported Allen to Jackson South Medical Center, where he later died, the report stated. His age has not been disclosed.

Investigators say the shooting happened shortly after an argument between Fisher and the victim. The dispute escalated, and Fisher allegedly opened fire, shooting the victim multiple times, according to the report.

Detectives said they recovered seven spent .40 caliber shell casings from the scene.

Witnesses at the location identified Fisher as the shooter and told investigators he was armed with a gun equipped with a blue or green laser, according to police.

Authorities said Fisher was taken into custody and brought to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau for questioning, where he invoked his right to legal counsel and did not provide a statement.

It is not clear what the victim and suspect were arguing about before the shooting occurred.

As of Tuesday, Fisher was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
