Felon accused of attacking woman at Miami-Dade bus stop ‘without provocation’

MIAMI – A 36-year-old felon was back behind bars on Tuesday accused of attacking a woman “without provocation” at a public bus stop in Miami, according to police.

Wayne Dillon used a wooden stick to hit the woman in the head on Saturday near Northwest Seventh Avenue and 61 Street, according to a police report.

Miami fire rescue personnel took the woman to Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to police.

Two police officers on patrol found Dillon on Sunday at Northwest Seventh Avenue and 55 Terrace and arrested him, records show.

Records show corrections held Dillon at Ward D, a specialized medical unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The convicted felon has a long criminal record.

Dillon was convicted of three 2018 crimes: Armed robbery, aggravated assault, and witness tampering. He was also convicted of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence in 2021.

Records show Dillon was sentenced to four years and five months in prison for the 2018 charges and two years and four months in prison for the 2021 case.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Dillon was in prison from August 2020 to May 2023.

On Monday morning, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies booked Dillon at the Turner Guilford Correctional Center.

On Tuesday, Dillon appeared in bond court facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge David Young was set to preside over the case.
