Inmate records show Valentino Mcfarland was at the Paul Rein Detention Facility on Thursday morning in Pompano Beach without bond.

Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Mcfarland, a convicted felon on probation, on June 5, in Lauderdale Lakes, records show.

A BSO detective reported that for months Mcfarland “engaged in a pattern of grooming,” offered gifts, and had food delivered to the boy’s home.

According to the arrest report, Mcfarland changed his tone on May 17 when he threatened to kill the boy if he didn’t let him see him perform a sexual act.

Mcfarland took a screenshot and shared the sexual image of the boy with someone who then told the victim and notified deputies, according to the report.

Mcfarland faced charges of solicitation for sexual conduct with a child over a computer and transmitting material harmful to minors.

Court records show Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Ian Rothschild was presiding over the case.
