Police: Virginia man attacking another tries to take Miami cop’s weapon during arrest in Brickell

MIAMI – A 23-year-old Virginia man was behind bars Monday after police officers found him attacking another man in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, records show.

Miami police officers intervened when they found Joshua Jackson with his arms wrapped around the man’s neck, according to a police arrest report.

Jackson, of Farmville, “reached with his left hand and attempted to grab [a police officer’s] weapon during his arrest on Saturday near Mary Brickell Village, according to the arrest report.

Court records show prosecutors filed a case against Jackson on Sunday. He faced charges of unlawful taking of a law enforcement officer’s firearm, resisting arrest with violence, battery, and disorderly conduct.

A judge ordered him to stay away from the domestic violence victim and set his bond at $2,650. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Alberto Milian was set to preside over the case.
