The 35-year-old artist, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, is set to be sentenced in his federal case along with his mother, Janice Turner, 62, on Aug. 15. Jurors in Fort Lauderdale federal court found the pair were involved in a $1 million scheme involving luxury goods.

Meanwhile, he faces several felonies in Broward County court and his attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, is seeking to withdraw from the case as Kingston has “failed substantially” to pay him, the court documents state.

Rosenblatt states in the documents that he requested that Kingston retain new counsel, but he has not done so, saying that “apparently,” Kingston “may be indigent” and asked the court to see whether the musician qualifies for a public defender.

Court records show a hearing on the matter is scheduled for July 11 in Broward County court.

Kingston and Turner, who were found guilty of five federal charges, are each facing nine state charges, including counts of organized scheme to defraud and grand theft.

Records show another attorney is representing Turner.

Kingston was not listed in county or federal inmate records as of Friday morning.
