Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said the shooting happened at around 11:40 p.m. at the Valero at 2400 W. Sunrise Blvd. in the county’s Franklin Park section, just outside of Fort Lauderdale.

Deputies said clerk Abdulla Monther, 46, of Fort Pierce, got into an argument with the customer “over the price of beer.”

According to the BSO arrest report, when the customer threw an “unknown small object” at Monther, described as “possibly a piece of paper,” the clerk took out a gun from under the counter and shot the man in the right calf muscle.

Deputies said surveillance footage showed Monther take out the SIG Sauer pistol, rack the slide and fire it in the customer’s direction.

He then called the wounded customer a “p---- a-- n----” and followed him around with the gun, the report states.

An alleged confession was redacted from the publicly-released report.

Monther was no longer listed in Broward jail records as of Monday evening.
