Police: Valet attendant takes off in victim’s car outside Miami apartment building

MIAMI – A valet attendant for a high-rise apartment building in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood was arrested early Monday morning after he took off in a resident’s vehicle, police said.

According to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. at 88 SW Seventh St.

Police said the victim told officers that he had dropped off his car with a valet attendant, identified as Augusto Cesar Sandino Troz, 23, of Miami, outside his apartment building, but instead of going up to his apartment, he walked down the street to the Brickell Smoke Shop to pick up some cigarettes.

According to the repot, as he was leaving the store, the victim saw Sandino Troz speeding excessively in his vehicle, nearly hitting the building at one point.

Police said the victim obtained surveillance video capturing Sandino Troz’s actions.

According to the arrest report, the valet attendant admitted to something, although his exact statement was redacted from the publicly released report.

Sandino Troz was arrested on a charge of grand theft of a motor vehicle.

As of Monday afternoon, Sandino Troz was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
