MIAMI — President Donald Trump’s administration deployed 200 U.S. Marines to Florida to support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
The U.S. Northern Command announced on Thursday that the U.S. Marines in Florida are from Air Station New River, in North Carolina, and they will engage in “non-law enforcement duties within ICE facilities.”
Homeland Security requested support in Florida, Texas, and Louisiana in May, and the Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth authorized it in June, according to the Department of Defense.
The Trump administration announced the deployments are done under a set of laws under Title 10 that allow the U.S. military to protect federal property and personnel.
