MIAMI – A woman was hospitalized Friday evening after she was struck by a projectile while walking to her home in Miami.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. on the 600 block of Southwest 19th Avenue, Miami police said.
The woman told officers she was walking toward her house when she heard what sounded like four gunshots. Moments later, she realized she had been hit.
Authorities said she began calling out for help, and neighbors contacted 911. Responding officers said she had been struck by an unknown projectile and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the woman was shot or what exactly struck her.
No arrests have been announced, and investigators are still working to determine the source of the projectile.
As of Saturday morning, her age and condition were not immediately released.
