WILTON MANORS, Fla. – Newly released body camera video shows the moments police officers approached a man who was arrested for bringing a gun to the Wilton Manors Pride Parade.
Police said Michael Monheit brought a loaded gun to the packed parade back on June 14.
For the first time this year, parade organizers put up metal detectors for safety, and that afternoon, police said the 31-year-old from Palm Beach County set one off.
According to authorities, Monheit ignored commands to stop and tried making a run for it.
He was eventually caught, placed in handcuffs and questioned.
Cops confiscated a handgun and three magazines.
Monheit was put into a patrol car to be taken to jail.
Records show he had no prior arrests in Miami-Dade County or Broward County.
Monheit now faces charges of trespassing and unlawful carry of a concealed weapon.
