According to BSO, the shooting occurred around noon on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, near the 2100 block of Northwest 28th Street.

BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said in a news release that deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found the victim, Ammon Watson, in the driveway of a home.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Grossman said deputies established a perimeter and canvassed the area, but no suspects were located.

Detectives discovered during their investigation that the shooter had ran up to the victim while he was in the driveway and shot him before fleeing on foot.

According to Grossman, Ta’Narine Hamilton, 18, Khalil Elie, 22, and Morris King Jr., 19 were eventually identified as suspects in the murder and warrants for their arrests were obtained.

She said Hamilton was already in custody for an unrelated case when he was identified as a suspect in the killing, but Elie was arrested on Monday, June 16, and King Jr. was located in Sunrise on Thursday, July 10, and booked into the BSO Main Jail.

All three suspects face one count of felony murder in the first degree.

On Friday morning, both Elie and King were appearing in online jail records, which showed they were being held without bond.

A motive for the shooting was not released.
