Man shot by police at Aventura hair salon was 36-year-old father

FDLE investigates fatal police-involved shooting at RH Beauty + Salon

AVENTURA, Fla. – Family and friends are grieving Troy Cannata, a father who died during a police shooting in Aventura, which remained under investigation on Monday.

On Instagram and Facebook, photos showed Cannata, 36, with his wife Stephanie Cannata, a hair stylist, and their son and daughter.

The shooting was after officers responded to a “disturbance” at about 1:45 p.m., on Thursday, at the RH Beauty + Salon, at 19017 Biscayne Boulevard.

Social media posts showed Stephanie Cannata working at RH Beauty + Salon. A witness said the “disturbance” was associated with the disgruntled husband of a former employee.

Fire rescue personnel responded to the Aventura Cove Plaza. Troy Cannata died at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, according to police.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was investigating the fatal police shooting.
