MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — After a crash on Thursday morning, Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies in unmarked cars rushed in to find their suspect in an overturned car.
Surveillance video captured the flashing light from the crash and the sound of deputies shouting orders before 3 a.m. in the Richmond West neighborhood.
According to Detective Joseph R. Peguero Rivera, detectives were “conducting surveillance in the area for a wanted subject” and “lost sight of the vehicle.”
“There was never a police pursuit,” Peguero Rivera wrote in an e-mail.
According to Detective Samantha Choon, deputies from the Hammocks District Station responded to the crash at Southwest 147 Avenue and Colonial Drive.
The impact of the two-vehicle crash sent debris flying into the houses’ front yards and damaged a palm tree near the intersection.
According to Andrea Rudchenco, a spokeswoman for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, “two adult trauma alert patients were transported by ground” to Jackson South’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Deputies did not release the identity of the suspect or details about the crash, which was also under investigation.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
