DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — The director of cybersecurity at Broward Health became an inmate at the Broward Main Jail on Friday after being arrested on 11 felony charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material.
Kevin Christopher Kull, 41, of Deerfield Beach, is now suspended from his top position following his arrest by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
According to a BSO arrest report, the investigation into Kull began on July 7 after someone who apparently lives with him reported him.
Multiple details were redacted, citing “active criminal investigation information.”
“Kevin still resides at their home (redacted), however (redacted) still has access to the home due to them prepping the home to place it on the market,” the report states. “On (July 7), while organizing the home, she located (two) SD cards, (two) hard drives and a cellphone.”
The person then accessed the devices and found “what she believes to be” child sexual abuse material, deputies said.
A forensic extraction revealed 7,891 images classified as “child erotica,” which depicted girls aged 5 to 12 in “sexually suggestive poses.”
They said they also found 178 files of “animated child pornography depicting children as young as toddlers” and at least 10 illicit files depicting real victims; deputies said they were girls between the ages of 5 and 15.
They said they also found multiple surreptitiously-taken photos of “children at a public pool” as well as “several videos” of Kull engaged in acts with a three-foot-tall sex doll.
Authorities said they served a search warrant at his home, located in the 4700 block of Northwest Third Street, Friday morning and found Kull there.
The report states that while searching Kull’s vehicle, they found a “severely damaged” laptop in the trunk. Deputies said it appeared to have been smashed with a hammer and all hard drives were removed.
Deputies took Kull into custody and he declined to speak with them, it states.
In a statement, a Broward Health spokesperson said the system is “aware of and appalled by the allegations.”
“Due to the nature of the pending charges, we have taken immediate action by suspending Mr. Kull’s employment and are fully cooperating with law enforcement,” the statement reads.
The statement goes on to describe the allegations as “abhorrent and in direct conflict with our values.”
“We are mindful of the individuals and families who may be impacted by this deeply troubling situation and offer our sincere support to any who might be affected,” it reads.
Online records show Kull remained in the BSO Main Jail as of Friday afternoon.
