PINECREST, Fla. — Wild dashcam video obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday reveals the intense moments of a high-speed police pursuit involving off-road vehicles that unfolded Saturday night across southwest Miami-Dade.
It all began at a gas station in Pinecrest, where Pinecrest police said officers responded to reports of a group of reckless ATV riders — approximately six or seven vehicles, each carrying three to four individuals.
Afternoon report:
Officers arriving at the scene said they attempted to disperse the crowd when the situation quickly escalated.
Pinecrest police said one of their officers was pinned between the suspect’s vehicle and his own cruiser.
They said at least one officer discharged his gun in response to the threat, though no one was struck. The suspect then ran over the officer’s foot while fleeing the scene.
The pursuit that followed stretched 18 miles from U.S. 1 to Krome Avenue, with Pinecrest Police, Miami-Dade units, and the Florida Highway Patrol all involved, according to investigators.
Dashcam footage shows one of the ATV-style side-by-side vehicles crashing into a police cruiser during the chase.
The dramatic pursuit ended when FHP troopers performed a PIT maneuver to stop the suspect vehicle.
Authorities said three individuals were taken into custody at the scene.
One of those arrested was identified as 24-year-old Adolfo Denis, who appeared in bond court Monday morning. He faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer
- Aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer
- Fleeing and eluding after an accident
Investigators said the injured Pinecrest officer is currently recovering in the hospital.
“These situations escalate quickly,” Osores emphasized. “When you have a group blocking roads and engaging in dangerous, antisocial behavior, it’s a threat not just to officers, but to the public.”
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the officer-involved shooting, as standard procedure.
