A 58-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation by the Miami Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
MPD officials said Gregory Wayne Freeman was taken into custody after detectives linked him to the upload of suspected child sexual abuse material.
Investigators said they executed a search warrant on Freeman’s cellphone and discovered 30 files containing child sexual abuse material, including images and videos of children believed to be between the ages of 3 and 12, shared through the social media app Kik.
Jail records show Freeman is facing 15 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child.
MDP said the agency remains committed to protecting vulnerable members of the community and urged the public to report any suspicious online activity involving children.
As of Wednesday, Freeman was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond is listed as “to be set.”
Authorities confirmed that Freeman was previously arrested by Homestead police on Nov. 12, 2024, on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material.
