MIAMI — From the wood fire to the smoke billowing out, the South Florida community loves getting their grub from Apocalypse BBQ.
Based off the show of support that the restaurant has received, it’s clear the small West Kendall business has created a community ready for a smokey showdown.
“The county was gracious enough to work with us and grant us a temporary permit to have our smokers so we could get up and running,” said owner Jeff Bud.
Supporters were unified as they marched to the Miami-Dade Community Zoning Appeals Board, asking for the smokers to stay so the business could continue making its delicious food.
“To see there’s even a chance of them losing their business due to the smokers, that’s a problem,” said customer Don Vatel.
The room was packed, with the plea not only for the smokers, but for a community staple to be able to keep its doors open.
And just like their sweet barbecue, the restaurant received a tasty triumph as the board approved their request.
“To know that we’re going to be here forever is a great feeling,” said Bud.
