SURFSIDE, Fla. — Newly released body camera footage shows Surfside police taking an accused serial thief into custody.
“I can assure you this is not his first time or tenth time,” said Surfside Police Chief Charles Press. “Unfortunately he keeps getting popped.”
The crook in question has been identified as Sanford Duhart.
Press said it began as a theft at a CVS on July 17, but that’s only a small part of the story.
Soon, a probable arrest flyer was circulated in the community as officers wanted to get Duhart off the streets.
Duhart’s criminal history, as seen on the flyer, includes possession of weapon by felon, aggravated assault, battery, theft of motor vehicle and more.
Police said it took one alert officer to take him down.
That officer was writing a ticket when he observed the suspect, so he pursued him and took him into custody.
CVS is prosecuting for the thefts, officials said.
